This beautiful antique Albert chain is crafted in 9ct gold, featuring a traditional double-chain design with hollow curb links, a classic T-bar, two dog clips, and an intricately engraved solid gold fob pendant dating to 1918.

The decorative fob is particularly special, featuring intricate floral engravings, elegant scrollwork, and a central shield-shaped cartouche. The reverse bears full British hallmarks for 9ct gold, assayed in Birmingham in 1918, with the maker’s mark of Joseph Moore.

Measuring 14.75 inches in length, the chain features substantial curb-style links with a hollow construction, while the pendant components are solid. Weighing 23.4 grams in total, it offers the distinctive character and craftsmanship associated with antique Albert chains.

Originally designed to accompany a gentleman’s pocket watch, Albert chains have become sought-after pieces of antique jewelry, equally beautiful worn as a statement necklace. With its intricate detailing and rich history, this is a wonderfully versatile piece that brings over a century of character to a modern jewelry collection.

Condition

In good antique condition considering its age, with visible signs of wear throughout. Due to the hollow construction of the chain, numerous links exhibit dents, and several have small holes or openings. Despite these imperfections, the chain remains structurally sound and the wear does not affect its overall wearability. The T-Bar also has dents and surface wear. Surface scratches and general wear are consistent with the age and history of this piece.

Despite these imperfections, the chain retains its beautiful antique character, and the fob’s intricate engraved details remain beautifully defined.

Due to the hollow construction and existing wear, we recommend handling and wearing this piece with care.

Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and accurately illustrate the condition of this antique piece.
